Diptyque

The days have started to become grey here in Paris, so while I would usually save my candles strictly for the evenings, they've been coming out mid-afternoon to brighten the mood in the apartment. I've recently been burning Verveine by Diptyque, which is a powerful citrus scent. It was a birthday gift so I had no choice in the matter and when I first smelt it I was worried - it smelt like lemon bonbons (and not in a good way). When lit, however, the scent is much more sublte and warmer and I actually really love it. It's fresh still, but also is spicy enough to make the room feel cosy.

I actually learnt something from a sales assistant in Diptyque last week. My boyfriend and I were looking for a birthday gift for someone so spent 20 smelling and re-smelling every candle in the shop. Seeing us struggle, the sales assistant came across and offered an insider tip: turn the candle upside down and gently tap it on the table so it falls out of the jar. You can tell how the candle will smell when lit by smelling the empty jar. Ever the sceptic, I picked up Verveine and knocked the candle out... and sure enough, the jar smelt just like candle when lit! 

Les jours deviennent de plus en plus gris ici à Paris, donc j’ai commencé à allumer les bougies un peu plus tôt dans la journée pour donner une ambiance plus claire dans l’appart. Dernièrement, j’ai utilisé la Verveine de chez Diptyque qui a un parfum citronnée fort. C’était un cadeau d’anniversaire, donc ce n’était pas moi qui l’as choisi et j’avais un peu peur quand je l’ai senti pour la première fois – ça sentait les bonbons (mais trop). Une fois allumée, le parfum était beaucoup plus agréable et là, je l’adore !

Un vendeur gentil m’a donné un conseil très utile, il y a quelques semaines : il faut retourner la bougie pour qu’il tombe et puis c’est le récipient en verre qui porte le vrai parfum de la bougie. Bien sûr, je l’ai testé tout de suite dans le magasin et je vous promets que ça marche !
